Defense stocks fall as Democrats win Congress, casting doubt on $1.5T military budget request.

Defense stocks, including Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, dropped sharply after Democrats won control of Congress in the 2026 midterms, putting President Trump's $1.5 trillion military budget request in jeopardy. While the broader market rallied, defense contractors faced selloffs due to uncertainty over the final budget, which is expected to be lower than requested but still above the current $901 billion. Lockheed Martin's record $292 billion backlog may provide some cushion, but investors worry about valuation declines if the budget is capped near $1.15 trillion. The budget fight and congressional dynamics will continue to influence defense stocks in the coming months.

Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman are both down on Pluang, with LMT falling 2.60% and NOC down 1.26%. Lockheed Martin trades at USD 579.57 and Northrop Grumman at USD 518.74 as of Nov 06, 2026 02:02 WIB. The sell pressure is reflected in Pluang order activity, especially for Northrop Grumman where 84% of orders are sell.
