Russia limits retail crypto buys to Bitcoin, Ether, and USDT with annual cap.

The Bank of Russia has proposed new rules restricting retail investors to buying only Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether's USDT, based on liquidity criteria like market cap and trading volume. Retail investors would be limited to purchasing up to 300,000 rubles per year from each intermediary, while qualified investors face no such limits. The rules also require all investors to undergo risk testing before trading. This move aims to protect retail investors from crypto volatility and is open for public feedback until August 24, 2026.
