Reddit announced it is developing a new video experience that will allow users to watch videos and listen to posts in the background, inspired by the popularity of TikTok videos featuring narrated Reddit stories. CEO Steve Huffman highlighted that many viral Reddit stories are already shared as text-to-speech videos on TikTok, and Reddit aims to create an engaging, distinct format for this content within its app. The feature is expected to be available for testing later this year, as Reddit and other platforms adopt TikTok-like video feeds to boost user engagement. This move follows Reddit's recent success with video comments, which now make up over 10% of its video posts.
