Ravencoin disclosed a critical consensus vulnerability that allowed attackers to create invalid blocks without performing the required proof-of-work, affecting blocks since August 7. This exploit could lead to a deep blockchain reorganization covering about three days of history as mining pools work to exclude the compromised chain. The flaw involved manipulation of block header validation, making malicious blocks cheaper to produce and causing network instability. Ravencoin has urged exchanges to suspend RVN transfers and advised all network participants to upgrade software while the network stabilizes. The incident caused RVN's price to drop about 19% in 24 hours and raises concerns as confirmed transactions during the affected period may be reversed.
