Binance hacker swapped $365M USDT to unfreezable ETH using Aave and UniswapX, avoiding asset freezes.

The Binance hacker, identified as North Korea’s TraderTraitor, swiftly converted $365 million USDT into over 120,000 unfreezable ETH using Aave and UniswapX to evade asset freezes by platforms like Tether and Circle. The attacker deposited $60 million USDT on Aave, borrowed 19,760 WETH, and swapped $325 million USDT via UniswapX within minutes before freezes were enforced. Aave denied claims of bad debt from the incident, stating the collateral was over-collateralized, unlike a previous KelpDAO hack. The event highlights vulnerabilities in decentralized finance platforms and raises questions about responsibility for the stolen funds' repayment.

The Binance hacker's use of Aave to bypass freezes on USDT highlights ongoing risks in decentralized finance. On Pluang as of Oct 30, 2026 23:22 WIB, AAVE trades at Rp2.289.463, down 8.29% in one day with a market cap of Rp35,16T. Meanwhile, USDT is priced at Rp18.118, down 0.38%, with a market cap of Rp3.270,46T and a 24-hour volume of Rp2.207,57T, reflecting active trading despite the incident.
