Comcast has agreed to a $117.5 million settlement following a cyberattack in October 2023 that exposed personal data of about 36 million Xfinity customers. Affected customers who received breach notifications can claim a flat payment of around $50 or up to $10,000 if they prove losses related to the breach. The deadline to file claims was extended to September 14, 2026. Customers who do not file or opt out by the deadlines will lose the right to sue Comcast independently. The settlement also includes identity defense services for affected customers, even those who do not file claims.
