About 50 FedEx Express workers in Fort McMurray have successfully unionized by joining Teamsters Local Union 362 following a legal battle. FedEx had tried to exclude temporary foreign and international student workers from union membership, but the Canada Industrial Relations Board certified the union including these workers. This victory addresses wage and benefit disparities compared to other couriers and aims to improve working conditions. Negotiations for the first collective agreement will begin soon, marking the first FedEx Express location in Canada to unionize.
