Ondo Finance has introduced blockchain-based tokenized versions of BlackRock's iShares Core S&P 500 ETF and Micron Technology shares, following the SEC's third-party custodial tokenization model. These tokens are issued on Ethereum through Oasis Pro, an SEC-registered transfer agent, with Broadridge managing proxy voting and shareholder communications to ensure token holders have the same rights as traditional investors. This marks the first implementation of the SEC's framework, demonstrating that tokenized securities can operate within existing U.S. regulations. However, the product is not yet available to U.S. investors, signaling a potential future expansion of on-chain investment access under regulatory compliance.
