Ondo Finance has become the first company to tokenize U.S. securities within existing regulatory frameworks, starting with Blackrock’s iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) and Micron shares. The tokens are backed one-to-one by the underlying shares held in traditional custody, while the tokens themselves exist on the Ethereum blockchain. This setup allows token holders to have the same rights as traditional shareholders, including proxy voting managed by Broadridge Financial Solutions. This launch marks a significant step in integrating blockchain technology with U.S. securities markets, providing a compliant way for investors to access tokenized securities domestically.
