NOAA approves TMC USA's deep-sea mining application, advancing permit process for critical metals extraction.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has determined that TMC USA's consolidated application for exploration and commercial recovery of polymetallic nodules in the Clarion Clipperton Zone is in full compliance with regulatory requirements. This approval is a key milestone in the regulatory process, allowing the application to move to the certification stage and public environmental review. The expanded application covers about 65,000 km² with an estimated 619 million tonnes of resources, aiming to provide a new source of critical metals with lower environmental impact. TMC USA expects the permitting process to conclude by the end of Q1 2027, enabling potential commercial operations under NOAA oversight.
