A new zero-day vulnerability called ShieldBreak has been disclosed in Windows 10, 11, and Server 2025, allowing hackers to escalate privileges and gain full access to devices by exploiting a flaw in Windows Defender. The exploit requires running a malicious app and bypasses previous patches Microsoft issued for a related bug. The security researcher Nightmare Eclipse, who revealed the bug despite legal threats from Microsoft, claims the company mishandled their reports.
