This improvement addresses Elon Musk's 2021 call to scale Dogecoin for global payments without altering the original Dogecoin Core protocol. The new system uses a Proof-of-Stake consensus, reducing transaction finalization to 0.15–0.25 seconds and maintaining compatibility with existing wallets. Currently in alpha with safety limits, Metallicus aims to expand Dogecoin's use in fintech, banking, and social network X's payment services.
