Microsoft's most powerful laptop uses Nvidia chips, sidelining Intel in high-end PCs.

Microsoft launched the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful laptop ever, powered by Nvidia's new RTX Spark CPU instead of Intel processors. This marks a significant shift as Intel, which still dominates PC chips by volume, loses the top-tier market to Nvidia's Arm-based design. The laptop starts at $2,599.99 with shipments from October 16, 2026, targeting AI workloads that benefit from unified memory architecture. While Intel remains strong in business PCs, this move signals growing competition at the premium end, with major PC makers also adopting Nvidia's new chips, potentially impacting Intel's future revenue in high-performance laptops.

Microsoft shares are trading at USD 531.80 with a modest gain of 0.39% on Pluang. Nvidia, whose new CPU powers the Surface Laptop Ultra, is priced at USD 234.40 but is down 1.25%. Intel shares fell 2.87% to USD 109.88 as of Oct 08, 2026 20:41 WIB.
