A critical vulnerability in Ravencoin's consensus protocol was exploited starting August 7, allowing invalid blocks to be accepted from block height 4,487,776. This flaw bypassed normal mining validation, leading to potentially reversible transactions confirmed after that block. Major pools 2Miners and RavenMiner issued emergency patches and are working on a recovery chain, but exchanges like Upbit suspended RVN deposits and withdrawals, causing the price to drop 19.1%. The project warns that if the recovery chain dominates, recent transactions might be lost or need re-mining. Users and operators are advised to upgrade software and treat recent confirmations with caution until stability is restored.
