Joby Aviation agreed to acquire Resonant Sciences for $500 million in cash and stock, aiming to deepen its presence in the defense sector. Resonant Sciences, which specializes in radio frequency and sensor systems, will become Joby's dedicated defense division, led by its CEO J. Micah North. This move allows Joby to focus its main business on electric air taxis while leveraging Resonant's $100 million revenue and government contracts to generate near-term income. The acquisition complements Joby's ongoing development of hybrid and electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for both commercial and defense uses.
