Insilico Medicine has dosed the first patient in a Phase III clinical trial for Rentosertib, an AI-discovered drug targeting idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The trial, conducted at multiple centers in China, aims to evaluate the drug's efficacy and safety over 52 weeks in 320 patients. Rentosertib inhibits TNIK, a novel target linked to fibrosis, and showed promising Phase IIa results including improved lung function. Insilico expects the trial to take 3-4 years to complete and aims for regulatory approval to offer a new treatment option for IPF, a serious lung disease with limited therapies.
