DogeOS has launched the Chikyū public testnet, an EVM-compatible Layer 2 built on ZK-rollup technology for Dogecoin. This new layer boosts transaction speed to around 300 TPS and enables smart contracts, DeFi, and gaming using DOGE as the native gas token, avoiding new tokens. Developers can use Ethereum tools and bridges to build applications like liquidity pools, lending, perpetual futures, stablecoins, and games. While still experimental, DogeOS marks a major step in expanding Dogecoin beyond payments, with a mainnet launch date yet to be announced.
