Circle has expanded its USD Coin (USDC) stablecoin payments network by acquiring Tazapay, a payment platform operating in over 100 markets with more than $25 billion in annualized payment volume. This acquisition adds over 60 banking and fintech partners, enabling faster and easier cross-border payments by leveraging Tazapay's support for 35+ currencies and same-day settlements. With more than 60% of Tazapay's payment volume already using stablecoins, Circle aims to reduce intermediaries and boost stablecoin settlement infrastructure globally. The deal, expected to close in 2027, will test whether Circle can convert Tazapay's existing momentum into broader growth in USDC payment activity.
