Circle has integrated Aave as a new lending option in its Bitcoin-backed borrowing service, Circle Mint, which previously operated only with Morpho. This service allows eligible institutional clients to deposit Bitcoin, receive a token called cirBTC, and borrow USDC stablecoins using third-party lending protocols. The addition of Aave provides borrowers and lenders with more choices and increases competition between protocols. However, borrowing terms and liquidation rules depend on each protocol, and clients in New York remain excluded from the service. This expansion could enhance liquidity options for institutions holding Bitcoin without selling it.
