The EU's Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework has licensed 35 tokens but excluded major stablecoin issuers like Tether, restricting EU users' access to top global stablecoins. Circle's EU Strategy head, Patrick Hansen, warns this leaves many users unprotected or cut off from major stablecoins, despite local issuers gaining momentum. The EU has opened a public consultation until September 30 to review MiCA and potentially ease rules for foreign issuers, aiming to make the framework more competitive and globally aligned.
