BlackRock buys $1.5B in Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs amid crypto market surge

Between September 17 and 24, 2026, BlackRock accelerated its cryptocurrency purchases, acquiring over $1.5 billion in Bitcoin and Ethereum through its three spot ETFs: iShares Bitcoin Trust, iShares Ethereum Trust ETF, and iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF. This buying spree occurred alongside a $260 billion increase in overall crypto market capitalization. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust alone saw a net inflow of $1.19 billion, holding $67.25 billion in Bitcoin assets. The firm's Ethereum ETFs also attracted significant inflows, bringing total crypto ETF assets to $78.14 billion. BlackRock's aggressive accumulation positions it as a leading institutional buyer in the U.S. crypto ETF market, which saw overall inflows of $2.65 billion for Bitcoin and $680 million for Ethereum during this period. This trend highlights growing institutional confidence in cryptocurrencies and could influence further market growth.
