Old unlimited token approvals on Ethereum still active pose risks but revoking costs just half a cent each.

Many Ethereum users unknowingly leave unlimited token approvals active, allowing external contracts to move their tokens indefinitely. These approvals do not expire and only end when manually revoked, which was previously costly but now costs about half a cent per revocation. A recent analysis showed 14.1% of new approvals are unlimited, exposing users to potential losses if contracts are compromised. Users are encouraged to regularly check and revoke unnecessary approvals to protect their assets, with tools like Revoke.cash and Etherscan's Token Approval Checker available for this purpose. Limiting approval amounts instead of granting unlimited access can further reduce risk.
