Aptos Labs has proposed an encrypted mempool feature that hides pending trade instructions until transaction ordering is complete, aiming to protect orders from frontrunning and censorship. Tests showed the feature adds 27 milliseconds of latency, about 14% more than their baseline. This native protection would keep transaction details confidential before execution but still record completed transactions publicly. The proposal requires governance approval to become the first Layer 1 blockchain to offer this feature. Aptos has also invested over $50 million in related products, research, and infrastructure, supporting projects like the Decibel exchange and AI data storage solutions.
