One-third of websites block Meta's AI agent Muse, delaying agentic commerce revenue, says Jefferies

Jefferies found that about one-third of tested US websites block Meta's AI agent Muse, which aims to perform agentic commerce by browsing and buying online for consumers. This blocking delays Meta's potential revenue from transaction fees, as many sites restrict or challenge Muse's access. Meta is working with select merchants like Walmart and Best Buy to integrate Muse, but many partnerships are still early-stage. Jefferies notes that access restrictions, not AI quality, are the main hurdle, and expects this to slow Meta's revenue growth in this area. Alphabet's Google may have an advantage due to its web crawler's broad access, while increased AI use could boost customer support software firms and shift advertising focus from clicks to outcomes, benefiting Meta.

Meta Platforms Inc shares trade at USD 718.19 with a slight 0.43% decline as of Oct 09, 2026 01:22 WIB on Pluang. Walmart, a key partner for Meta's Muse AI, is up 2.17% at USD 110.46, while Best Buy shares have risen 4.59% to USD 88.47. Alphabet, which may benefit from broader web access, is down 1.09% at USD 346.68 on Pluang at the same time.
