Aave DAO proposes borrowing stablecoins using Bitcoin as collateral on its V4 platform.

Aave DAO has initiated a Snapshot vote from Nov. 6-9 to approve a plan allowing users to borrow stablecoins by locking native Bitcoin (BTC) as collateral. The BTC would remain on the Bitcoin network via Babylon’s Trustless Bitcoin Vaults, while an Ethereum token would represent the collateral position within Aave’s lending system. This proposal follows community feedback and a risk review recommending a 300 BTC cap and a 78% collateral factor, though these limits are not yet approved. If the vote passes, a further onchain governance vote will be required before implementation.
