3M commits $5.8B through 2034 to settle PFAS injury claims, cutting litigation risks significantly.

3M has agreed to a $7.35 billion nominal settlement, with a present value of $5.8 billion, to resolve approximately 99% of PFAS-related personal injury claims involving up to 120,000 plaintiffs. This settlement reduces litigation uncertainty and aligns payments over nine years, with no payments in 2027 and a $50 million payment in 2026. The company will record a $5.8 billion pre-tax charge in Q4 2026 but maintains its 2026 financial guidance. This move follows 3M's previous PFAS-related settlements and its commitment to phase out PFAS production by 2025, aiming to manage legacy liabilities and focus on long-term business transformation.

As of Nov 04, 2026 06:11 WIB, 3M Company (MMM) shares trade at USD 181.69 on Pluang, showing a 1.87% increase in the last day. Despite the recent $7.35 billion settlement to resolve PFAS-related claims, Pluang investors are currently selling, with order activity at 100% Sell.
