FAQ article

Which orders can have stop loss and take profit attached on Pluang?

SLTP can be attached to Limit buy orders with Day or Session validity only. That is the complete list — every other combination is excluded. You cannot attach SLTP to a GTC order, because GTC validity is not supported by the feature, and you cannot attach it to a Market order, because a market order executes immediately and leaves nothing to attach to. You also cannot add SLTP to an order after you have placed it: the levels must be entered on the order form at the same time as your buy price and lot count. If you place a buy without SLTP and later decide you want exit levels, you would need to cancel and re-place the order.

Stop Loss and Take Profit for Indonesian stocks are available in the Pluang app only, where they appear as "Exit Strategy". The web trading platform does not offer them. Everything below describes the app.

Eligibility at a glance:

OrderCan carry SLTP
Limit buy — Day validity✓ Yes
Limit buy — Session validity✓ Yes
Limit buy — GTC validity✗ No
Market buy✗ No
Any sell order✗ No — SLTP is an exit attached to an entry
An order already placed✗ No — SLTP must be set at placement

Price rules when setting the levels. SLTP inputs follow the same price rules as the limit price itself, plus a few of their own:

  • Take Profit must sit above your limit price and Stop Loss below it, each at least one price step away.
  • You must enter your limit price before entering SLTP levels — the fields will not accept values otherwise.
  • You can enter each level as an absolute price or as a percentage; percentages are calculated against the price step.
  • A value that does not fall on a valid IDX price step is snapped to the nearest valid step automatically.
  • Changing your limit price clears any SLTP you have entered. Re-enter the levels after adjusting the price, or they will not be attached.

Amending and cancelling an order that carries SLTP:

  • Amending the SLTP levels modifies the parent order, and this includes removing SLTP entirely.
  • Amending the parent order's price or lots creates a new order.
  • Cancelling the parent order cancels the SLTP with it.
  • Cancelling only the SLTP leaves the parent order open without exit levels.

Two conditions that stop SLTP running. A stock split on the scheduled execution day causes the order to be rejected rather than price-adjusted, and a fee tier change closes all open SLTP orders.

Related questions:

Q: Can I add stop loss to an order I already placed on Pluang?
No. SLTP has to be entered on the order form at the same time as the buy order itself — there is no way to attach it to an order that is already open, whether that order is still waiting or has already filled. If you want exit levels on a position you already hold, the alternative is to place a separate sell Limit order yourself at the price you have in mind.

Q: Why can't a GTC order carry stop loss and take profit?
SLTP is only supported on Day and Session validity. A GTC order can stay open for up to 180 days, and the feature is not designed to run alongside an entry order with that lifespan. If exit levels matter more to you than a long-lived entry, place a Limit buy with Day or Session validity and set SLTP at the same time.

Q: What happens to my SLTP if I change the limit price?
Any SLTP levels you had entered are cleared. This is deliberate — your Take Profit and Stop Loss were set relative to the original price, so leaving them in place after a change could produce levels you did not intend. After adjusting your limit price, re-enter both levels before confirming, or the order will be placed without them.

Q: Can I set stop loss and take profit on a sell order?
No. SLTP is designed as an exit attached to an entry, so it is only available on buy orders. On the sell side, the exit is your order. If you want an automatic sell at two different price levels, that is what SLTP on the original buy order provides — set at the moment you enter the position.
