Waymo to test autonomous Toyota bZ4X EVs in Japan, expanding robotaxi plans internationally.

Waymo will start testing autonomous Toyota bZ4X electric vehicles in Japan next year as part of a partnership to supply EVs for robotaxi services in markets like Japan and the U.K. Toyota will manufacture the 2027 bZ4X models and integrate Waymo's self-driving system at its Takaoka factory. Initial testing in Japan aims to lead to a local robotaxi service, with plans to expand to other right-hand driving countries such as the U.K., where Waymo already tests autonomous Jaguars. The partnership may also explore integrating Waymo's technology into personal Toyota vehicles and improving road safety through vehicle-infrastructure integration.

Following the news of Waymo partnering with Toyota to supply robotaxis in Japan and the U.K., Toyota Motor Corp shares are trading at USD 194.65, down 1.01% as of Oct 30, 2026 14:11 WIB on Pluang. The stock shows a dividend yield of 3.19% and a market cap of $231.92 billion, with most Pluang users currently selling (97% sell activity). Meanwhile, Google's shares are priced at USD 280.19, down 0.75%, reflecting a different market sentiment on the platform at the same time.
