Walmart sued for allegedly selling shrimp bags with up to 11% less shrimp than advertised due to excess ice.

A class-action lawsuit filed by Elijah Baptist in Illinois accuses Walmart of selling shrimp bags that contain up to 11% less shrimp than advertised after removing the ice. The suit claims Walmart's packaging inflates weight with ice, a practice called "glazing," which is legal but must be clearly disclosed and not mislead consumers. Walmart is reviewing the complaint and has faced similar lawsuits before, including a $45 million settlement for food weight issues. The case seeks damages and represents Illinois consumers who bought Walmart's "Great Value" shrimp.

As of Oct 28, 2026 00:31 WIB, Walmart (WMT) trades at USD 118.86, down 1.18% for the day on Pluang. This price is closer to its 52-week low of USD 100.61 than its high of USD 134.20, showing some recent weakness. Despite this, the stock sees a strong buy interest with 72% of Pluang orders to buy, and it offers a modest dividend yield of 0.82%.
