Tesla plans to expand its Cybercab robotaxi service to Dallas and sell to fleets by year-end.

Tesla is set to expand its gold-colored Cybercab robotaxi service from Austin to Dallas in November and start selling the vehicles to outside fleet operators by the end of the year. The company aims to dominate transportation, but faces challenges including regulatory scrutiny from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration over the Cybercab's unconventional design, which lacks steering wheels and pedals. Tesla's robotaxi network currently operates in limited areas of Texas and Florida, trailing behind Alphabet-owned Waymo, which leads with over 4,000 self-driving vehicles across 15 U.S. cities. Tesla expects its robotaxi business to contribute noticeably to financial results only by mid-2027, while it focuses on scaling manufacturing and securing regulatory approvals.

Tesla shares are trading at USD 373.25, down 3.42% as of Oct 23, 2026 06:02 WIB on Pluang, reflecting some investor caution amid its robotaxi expansion plans. Meanwhile, Alphabet, which leads the self-driving vehicle market with its Waymo fleet, sees its shares at USD 324.84, down 2.96%. Tesla's market cap stands at $1.53 trillion, while Alphabet's is significantly larger at $4.07 trillion, highlighting the scale gap between the two competitors.
