Ryanair has reversed its policy of charging parents a fee to sit next to their children after the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) launched an investigation into the practice. Previously, parents paid about $10.70 each way per adult to reserve seats next to up to four children aged 2 to 11. Now, families who do not pay for seat reservations will be assigned random seats together for free after check-in, typically toward the rear of the plane. The CMA will continue to assess if the new policy complies with consumer law, calling the change a win for families but noting the investigation is ongoing.
