Harmony is rolling back its blockchain to two checkpoints from August 11 to undo a forged mint of 2.385 trillion ONE tokens. This recovery will discard over 109,000 regular and 315 staking transactions processed after the checkpoints. The rollback replaces shard databases to ensure a clean state, as the forged tokens moved quickly through exchanges, pools, and bridges, complicating direct token removal. Harmony is working with exchanges, bridges, and law enforcement to investigate and mitigate the impact, while cautioning that many discarded transactions were automated and may not affect individual users significantly.
