Polygon plans a hard fork to recover $6.5M in stolen POL tokens from recent hacks.

Polygon is proposing a hard fork to move 70.49 million stolen POL tokens, worth about $6.5 million, taken in separate hacks of Polymarket and Binance in late October. The current blocklist freezing these funds is seen as a temporary and incomplete solution, as the attacker has attempted to bypass it by offering large transaction fees and bribes to validators. The hard fork would reset the stolen tokens' balances to zero and credit recovery wallets controlled by Polymarket and Binance, without changing POL's total supply. The proposal will be discussed in the Polygon Protocol Governance Call on November 5, with client upgrades expected to follow if approved.

Polygon's POL token is trading at Rp1.800 on Pluang as of November 5, 2026, 17:31 WIB, showing a 5.14% gain in the last day. This price level contrasts with its significant market cap of Rp19,02 trillion and a high 24-hour trading volume of Rp1,98 trillion, indicating active market interest despite the ongoing governance discussions about the hard fork. The circulating supply stands at 10.6 billion POL, with a majority of Pluang users currently selling (60%) rather than buying (40%), and typical holdings lasting around 79 days.
