Pump.fun updated its Custom Pairs feature to allow new tokens to pair with eligible existing tokens on the platform, directing trading activity into those tokens' liquidity pools. When buying a new token through these pairs, funds convert first into the paired token, increasing buying pressure and liquidity for that token's pool. The update aims to reduce liquidity diversion caused by derivative launches around popular tokens, with pairings capped at one level and no changes allowed after launch. Multi-hop swap fees were also adjusted to prevent fee accumulation during routed transactions.
