PG&E has launched a Continuous Monitoring Center in San Ramon that uses advanced sensors and machine learning to monitor its electric grid in real time. This system detects potential wildfire risks and grid issues early, enabling faster response and prevention of outages and fires. In 2025, these efforts prevented 17 potential ignitions, avoided 12 million minutes of outages, and saved about $6 million in costs. The center integrates multiple technologies to enhance grid safety and reliability, marking a shift from reactive to proactive wildfire risk management as the wildfire season approaches.
