The U.S. Defense Department has signed agreements with seven leading AI companies, including Amazon Web Services, Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Nvidia, Reflection, and SpaceX, to deploy their AI technologies on classified networks. This move aims to prevent reliance on a single AI vendor and ensure flexibility for military operations. The agreements come after the Pentagon and White House halted use of Anthropic's AI products due to disagreements over lawful use cases, particularly concerning autonomous weapons and surveillance. These partnerships will enhance data processing, situational awareness, and decision-making for warfighters, supporting national security and advancing the Pentagon's AI-first strategy.
