Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko has warned that AI could potentially break post-quantum cryptography (PQC) schemes that are designed to secure blockchain networks against future quantum computing threats. He highlighted that the industry still lacks a full understanding of the mathematical and practical vulnerabilities in these PQC schemes, which complicates the transition to quantum-resistant cryptography. Yakovenko proposed supporting multi-signature wallets and native transaction processor solutions to enhance security during this transition. This concern affects all major blockchain networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum, which rely on cryptographic methods vulnerable to quantum attacks, making post-quantum readiness a critical and shared challenge across the crypto industry.
