Leveraged tech ETFs saw heavy dip buying in October but suffered steep losses due to daily reset math.

In October 2026, investors poured billions into leveraged semiconductor and tech ETFs like SOXL and TQQQ despite falling prices, expecting rebounds. However, these funds reset their leverage daily, causing losses to compound and making recovery slower and more painful than expected. SOXL fell nearly 48% in October while TQQQ dropped over 20%, with further declines continuing into November. The daily reset means that even a rebound requires a much larger gain to break even, posing significant risks especially for investors near retirement. Upcoming events like the October jobs report and NVIDIA earnings will be key to any recovery.

Despite the sharp declines in October, SOXL and TQQQ have rebounded on Pluang with SOXL up 11.47% to USD 76.00 and TQQQ rising 2.22% to USD 60.77. However, most traders remain cautious as 59% of SOXL and 81% of TQQQ orders are sell orders. These figures are current as of Nov 03, 2026 20:51 WIB.
