Keystone halts shipments, destroys 18,835 wallets after factory key breach risks counterfeit devices.

Keystone discovered on October 20 that an attacker obtained its permanent factory key used to verify the authenticity of its Bitcoin hardware wallets, risking counterfeit devices passing verification. The company will destroy 18,835 unsold wallets and suspend shipping of all unshipped orders. Additionally, 25,964 customer records from 2024 to 2026 were exposed, including names and addresses, but private keys and recovery phrases were not compromised.
