MoneyGram expands stablecoin use with Stellar and launches its own MGUSD stablecoin.

MoneyGram partnered with the Stellar Development Foundation in 2021 to enable cash-to-USDC stablecoin services, allowing customers to exchange local cash for USDC and vice versa at retail locations. This service supports U.S. transfers to Colombia and El Salvador, where users can hold USDC in the MoneyGram app. In June, MoneyGram launched its own stablecoin, MGUSD, initially issued on Stellar, expanding its stablecoin offerings. Additionally, MoneyGram plans to join the XDC Network as an institutional validator, broadening its blockchain involvement across multiple networks.
