Meta announced it will deploy AI technology to analyze photos and videos for visual clues like height and bone structure to estimate if users are under 13, aiming to remove such accounts from Facebook and Instagram. This system, which is not facial recognition, combines visual data with text and interaction analysis to better identify underage users. The technology is currently active in select countries with plans for wider rollout, including expansion to Instagram Live and Facebook Groups. Meta also expanded stricter "Teen Accounts" settings to 27 countries, enhancing protections for teen users. This move follows legal pressure over child safety concerns on Meta's platforms.
