Lockheed Martin has been chosen by the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command to develop capabilities for the Space-Based Interceptor (SBI) program. This initiative aims to create an early engagement missile defense layer that enhances homeland security by expanding coverage and improving survivability against emerging missile threats. Leveraging its experience with proven interceptor systems like THAAD and PAC-3, Lockheed Martin plans to deliver an integrated demonstration of the SBI capabilities by 2028. This development is a key step toward a multi-layered defense system protecting critical infrastructure and national security.
