KKR will take management control of a $1.3 billion renewable energy platform in South Korea, partnering with SK Inc. to integrate wind, solar, and fuel cell assets. The platform aims to start with 1.7 gigawatts capacity and scale to 10 gigawatts, enough to power 100 large AI data centers simultaneously. This move supports South Korea's growing demand for clean energy in semiconductor manufacturing and AI data centers, aligning with the country's recent major investments in these sectors. KKR's involvement is part of its broader Asia Pacific infrastructure strategy focused on energy transition and renewables.
