US jury orders Apple to pay $5.7B for patent infringement in iPhone and Apple Watch haptic tech.

A US jury ruled that Apple must pay over $5.7 billion to San Diego-based Taction for infringing on its patented haptic feedback technology used in iPhones and Apple Watches. The verdict is the largest of its kind against Apple. Apple denies the claims, stating its Taptic Engine differs from Taction's technology and plans to appeal the decision. The case, originally filed in 2021, was revived last year by the US Court of Appeals after a previous ruling favored Apple.

Apple shares on Pluang reached their 52-week high of USD 341.07 as of Sep 27, 2026 09:02 WIB, marking a 1.53% gain for the day. This peak contrasts sharply with the 52-week low of USD 245.27, highlighting strong investor interest despite the $5.7 billion patent ruling. The stock's market cap stands at $4.98 trillion, with a majority of Pluang users (79%) buying rather than selling at this time.
