Jazz Pharmaceuticals announced it will acquire Actio Biosciences for $820 million upfront plus up to $500 million in milestones. The acquisition includes ABS-1230, a novel precision therapy targeting KCNT1+ epilepsy, a rare and severe genetic epilepsy with no approved treatments. ABS-1230 has shown promising early clinical results and benefits from FDA designations to speed development. The deal strengthens Jazz's rare epilepsy portfolio and is expected to close by Q4 2026, with Jazz also gaining a minority stake in a new spin-out company focused on other rare neurological diseases.
