Stolen $83M XRP from Bitget theft moved across multiple wallets, complicating recovery efforts

About 54 million XRP, worth roughly $83 million, stolen from Bitget has been moved across several wallets, dispersing the tokens beyond the initial five wallets and making recovery harder. Originally, around 103 million XRP (valued at $160 million) were stolen. XRP transfers cannot be frozen like some other tokens, limiting intervention options to exchanges that can block accounts. Bitget plans to cover losses from its protection fund and will gradually resume withdrawals starting with Bitcoin on Sept. 28 and other assets by Oct. 2.

The Bitget hack and subsequent movement of stolen XRP tokens provide context for cryptocurrency market activity.
