Study finds molecular HPV testing detects high-grade cervical lesions even with negative cytology in India

A study using CoSara Diagnostics' SARAGENE® HPV-HR Test in Gujarat, India, screened 625 women aged 30-60, identifying 20 high-risk HPV-positive cases. Despite mostly negative cytology results, follow-up biopsies found 12 women with high-grade cervical lesions or cervical cancer. This highlights the importance of molecular HPV testing in improving cervical cancer screening, especially where diagnostic access is limited. Co-Diagnostics aims to expand access to affordable molecular diagnostics across India and South Asia, with plans for further product development and awareness initiatives.
