Chainlink upgrades crypto bridge tech with custom security after $292M hack at rival bridge.

Chainlink launched CCIP 2.0, an upgraded cross-chain communication protocol that allows companies to add custom security checks to blockchain transfers. This update comes after a $292 million hack in April targeted a rival bridge that relied on a single verifier, exposing vulnerabilities. Chainlink's new system still uses its 16-operator verifier network but lets users add their own or third-party verifiers for enhanced security. The upgrade replaces Chainlink's previous Risk Management Network safeguard, meaning users who don't add verifiers now rely on a single verification network instead of two. Existing users were automatically migrated to CCIP 2.0, with some major DeFi platforms beginning to adopt parts of the upgrade.

Chainlink's launch of CCIP 2.0 comes as a backdrop to a mixed cryptocurrency market on Pluang, where only 11 of 50 major cryptocurrencies rose today. For readers following crypto assets, here is Pluang's market snapshot as of Sep 28, 2026 19:21 WIB: EOS gained 8.13% to Rp12.649 with a typical hold time of 87 days, while Bitcoin Cash fell 7.02% to Rp5.639.625 with a buy-heavy order activity of 72%, and Filecoin dropped 6.79% to Rp18.989 with 59% buy orders. This data reflects diverse investor sentiment across the sector.
