El Salvador denies transferring control of its bitcoin reserve to a private operator, clarifying only Chivo Wallet shares were privatized.

El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele denied reports claiming the country transferred control of its bitcoin reserve to a private operator, calling these claims "totally false." He clarified that only shares of the Chivo Wallet, the country's bitcoin payment platform, were transferred, not the bitcoin reserve itself. The IMF praised El Salvador's economic growth and fiscal surplus, crediting improvements in security and investor confidence. Despite IMF comments linking bitcoin accumulation to private donations and stating no further accumulation was expected, El Salvador continues to buy more bitcoin for its reserve.
