Balancer plans shutdown after V3 revenue fails to replace lost V2 revenue post-2025 hack

Balancer is planning a graceful shutdown after its new V3 pools failed to generate enough revenue to replace the losses from the 2025 hack on its V2 platform. Despite cost reductions and new product launches, revenue has sharply declined from $1.13 million in October 2025 to just $56,781 by August 2026. The shutdown plan involves distributing over $9 million in treasury funds to BAL token holders through a phased disbursement starting in May 2027, pending a governance vote in late September 2026. If the proposal is rejected, Balancer will continue operating under its current structure, but postponing shutdown risks further treasury depletion.

BAL token shows a strong daily gain of 11.14% on Pluang as of Sep 15, 2026 19:02 WIB, trading at Rp16,297. Despite the recent revenue struggles reported, BAL's market cap stands at Rp874.53 million with a 24-hour trading volume of Rp468.88 million. The circulating supply is 62.9 million out of a total 96.2 million BAL tokens, indicating about 66% are currently in circulation. Typical holders keep BAL for around 85 days on Pluang, reflecting moderate investor engagement.
